Day 10,235

Federerrrr is Grrrrrrreat

Roger Federer is the first great athlete of a new generation. So long Pete Samprass. Farewell Andre Agassi. No disrespect to those two, or any other dominant players from that era, but we are seeing the next best thing right now. Federer is the first athlete to rival the greatness of the ones my generation grew up watching. Point is, our generation is finally faced with the question that our parents have been asking for ages: Who's better? If I ask my dad who the best golfer of all-time is he has to hesitate. Arnie, Jack, Tiger, Byron? I think his answer would vary from time to time and I believe he would never be definitive in his response. To me it's Tiger. That's all I've known. Back to the point; Ask me who I thought the best tennis player was and I'd tell you Pete Sampras. Why? I grew up watching him and he was incredible. I can't base my opinion on people I never saw play so I have to base it on what I know. I think that's a credible philosophy. However, I can see myself slowly turning into my dad because if someone asks me who I think is the best tennis player, while my answer may not change just yet, it will definitely make me stop and think.

Helping Hands

How come we are so opposed to getting help? Logically we should accept help just about every time it's offered but it seems like we use it just the oppossite. Maybe there's a greater sense of accomplishment by completing a job/task alone or maybe it just prevents possible problems? I'm going to look into this a bit more, but in the meantime pay attention to how many times people ask to help you and how many times you accept it and vice versa.

A Bicycle Built For Two

Ok, so it's not exactly a bicycle built for two but it is two bicycles. I'm in talks with my friend Marc about getting involved in a cross country charity bike ride. The initial plan is to raise money for the fire fighters in Charleston, S.C. and then ride our bikes across the country (or at least part of it.) Other possible charities include St. Jude's and Alzheimer's research - but so long as it's a good cause I'm ok with it. This project is going to take a lot of time and work but I think it will be well worth the effort in the long run. Stay tuned to your local cable channels.

Big Finish

It's more of just a finish than a Big Finish - but this is my shout out to TK and Wilbon on PTI. Things are starting to roll here in Fej Lessur's lounge but I'm still looking for a little direction. My watch has a built in compass but a) it's not properly programmed and b) is currently missing so we'll see what happens. Good night Kalamazoo.

Here goes nothing

So blog #1 of my ancient and decrepit life. Seriously folks, my life is going by faster than Marty McFly in Doc Brown's delorian. So I'm not too sure what the goal of my blog is, or is going to be, but at the very worst it might serve as a good way for some people to waste time. At best, well I don't know. Lest we worry about that, though. In time I'll find some direction and some motive, but for now this is what you're stuck with.
